A Home for Peace and Justice
We are creating our permanent home — an environmentally sustainable center for equity, empathy, and effective communication across differences. Conveniently located in Castro Valley, California in the heart of the Bay Area, our new site will ensure that future generations have access to our unique experiential education programs.
Forstall Forest
We are infinitely grateful to Scott and Molly Forstall who generously purchased the land where we are building our future! This 37-acre magical property is now known as Forstall Forest.
The Time is Now
We are now at a critical juncture both in society and at The Mosaic Project. Demand for our services has reached beyond our current capacity. Leasing property has limited our ability to sustainably serve our students. Simultaneously, nationwide calls to reckon with the legacy of systemic oppression demonstrate the urgent need for Mosaic’s unique, research-based curriculum. Our permanent center for peace will allow us to meet the demands of this historic moment.
The Vision
Join us today to:
- Continue our more than 20-year track record and provide powerful, year-round programming in peace and equity for elementary schools, young adults, and businesses.
- Quadruple the number of participants served in-person annually from 7,000 to 31,000.
- Build a one-of-a-kind, model center for building just, inclusive communities.
Building Plans
Development of our new education center is underway, led by NorthStar, experts in environmentally sustainable design. We are now in the final stages of the permitting process with Alameda County which is conducting a rigorous California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) study of our project.
