The Mosaic Classroom Project

Building Peaceful Classroom Communities

The Mosaic Classroom Project is an experiential SEL and community-building curriculum for grades K–5. Through documentary films featuring real students from diverse backgrounds, music, and interactive “gametivities,” students build empathy, celebrate differences, practice assertive communication, and develop conflict resolution skills in an engaging, plug-and-play program.

For more than 25 years, The Mosaic Project has empowered students to become peacemakers through its acclaimed Outdoor Project in the San Francisco Bay Area. Now, schools everywhere can bring that same proven approach into their classrooms with The Mosaic Classroom Project.

Testimonials

“Something that Mosaic does exceptionally well is presenting really complicated ideas in clear, developmentally appropriate, child-friendly ways, that don’t water down the idea. They’re so simple and clear and true. It’s really powerful. No other SEL program that I have seen does as good a job integrating the SEL work within a broader context and integrating social justice standards. It’s unusual to find them so well integrated.”

Rosa Miller
Assistant Principal, partner school

“Thank you so much for sharing this amazing curriculum! Personally it has helped me reconnect with my younger teacher self. I was once a camp counselor and also filled with some of the same hope and joy I saw the MOSAIC staff exuding-but I feel like I’ve lost some of that spark after many years in the school system…. It reminded me about why I went into teaching and what kind of teacher I want to be.”

Janine Mortan
4th grade partner teacher

“I love you all to the end of the universe (and BEYOND!) This work has impacted me profoundly and changed me as both an educator and individual. You know I will always support you!”

Ryan Davis
5th grade partner teacher

“The videos were fantastic and the worksheets were straightforward and easy to access. We had such rich discussions.”
